Sai Baba: Incestuous Reflections

I would have been naive to think that the recent incest revelations wouldn't have caused an uproar or even a few raised eyebrows at least. In this way I was mighty surprised to find that only after a long silence of 22 hours and 26 minutes did devotees attempt to refute my presentation.

And may I say, these refutations (if you can even call them that) were of the most pathetic standard I have ever seen. You'd think that after affording documented proof of Sai Baba's incestuous origin and even going to the trouble of creating a family-tree diagram, it might make people sit up and think for a while. So wrong, because the responses that came forth dealt in irrelevance and avoidance as is the usual modus operandi of Sai Baba's devoted defenders.

One critic stated the following:

"Technically we are all blood relatives if we were descended from Adam and Eve. Secondly... 'In 26 out of 50 states in the United States, and most other countries, first cousins can marry. Second cousins, third cousins, first cousins once removed, and any other cousins except first cousins can marry in all 50 states and every country in the world. The Roman Catholic Church, which has had much more experience with people than the Unites States (It has more people and has been around longer) lets first cousins marry.' So, most of the world has no objections."

Pardon me, but I am not at all interested in getting into the logistics of Adam and Eve considering that a large number of sensible and reasonable people believe in evolution and not Biblical tales. Neither do I have the slightest interest in the legalities of incest according to the laws of the United States or the R.C. Church. (What do Roman Catholics have to do with Sai Baba anyway?)

But, just think, when you see a response like that I wonder if you're taken aback by the fact that Sai Baba's defenders have proceeded to actually defend incest! If Pedda Venkama Raju and Easwaramma were cousins and thus making Sai Baba inbred, hey, what's the problem? What's your problem? It ain't illegal, fer Christ's sake.

When you combine the above understandings with the popular Sai propaganda that pervades the Sai Organisation, such as the issue of Sai Baba's alleged choosing of his parents and geographic residence before taking an incarnation, you can only come to the conclusion that the Baba knew what he was doing when he chose to be born as an inbreed. You could similarly conclude that if devotees are willing to accept these (documented) facts about Sai Baba's parentage as real and true, they are willingly admitting to worshipping an inbred homosexual paedophile who is a victim of his own delusions of grandeur.

How'd ya like them apples?

There's nothing remotely funny about this, it's just plain tragic.

  • I was just about taking your entire blog seriously but this did it.

I am not a sai devotee at all and I have never spent time in devotion to him. I have always liked to share facts expsoing his tricks etc. But this argument on his birth did it.

Incest is when you intermarry with your blood brother or sister. Now different culture take it to different levels. But why is this made wrong by society, in the first place. It violates the trust and faith within the family.Secondly found to create lot of problems related to health if a marriage happens between brothers and sisters. But between cousins , one cannot be certain or predictive.Should such a marriage even take place between children of same mother/father the burden of blame is on parents and not on child.Even if Bible, quran says that the child is to be separated from others, I would disagree, because the moral burden is not on child.

Now just because a person is born to parents of cousins cannot make him a sinner and did he ever say that such a marriage was wrong?. So in this example, there is no contradiction between what he preached and what he did. You have been trying to focus a lot of questions on the mismatch between what he preached and what he did, and this is a needless deviation which makes readers like me wonder-what really is his agenda?.Did he preach that marriage between cousins has to be stopped? If he did , them I agree with it. Your aim seems to be to shock european readers who dont accept inter cousin marriage. Well you might have succeeded partially, but I dont think die hard sai baba fans are likely to buy this- Not certainly Indians. You might have been playing your chess game well, but by a single move, you have weakend your position and its only the opponents weakness if they cant trounce you.

  • Well Harish, to understand why I was so excited about the incest revelations, you will need to understand what a big discovery for me. I agree with you that on the whole these facts are relatively unimportant compared to other questions about Sai baba, but I hope you realise that I was the first person to discover this fact asnd publish it on the Internet, and my posts on the subject reflect that excitement.

But as it relates to Sai baba, I really have no care for it. For me it is just one more nail in his coffin because, as you say, the fact of his incestuous birth may be to shock Western readers who decry these things. Any way one cares to rationalise the relativity of incestuous marriages, whether they are brother-sister or cousin-cousin type, the fact still remains that the relation is detrimental to genetic legacy. So Sai Baba, being the result of an incestuous connection, doesn't have an optimal genetic code. Too bad I am not a geneticist so I could only speculate on what effect this has on Sai baba's health and failing mental state, but all I really wanted to point out that this "avatar" neither belongs to an illustrious family nor possesses extraordinary (genetic?) talents.
